Our Brand Story
Who are we?
Utopia is a small, independent sustainable fashion brand, born out of the desire to clean up the fashion industry. Our mission is simple:
To create a better planet through sustainable clothing, and look good whilst doing it!
We're all aware of the story of the Phoenix - a magnificent bird, famous for its rebirth after death from a great blaze of fire
In many ways there is similarities in this story to our current planet - what was once a beautiful, thriving planet is now slowly dying. However, just like in the story of the Phoenix, it can be reborn and renewed, but action needs to be taken; particularly in the fashion industry
How will we clean up the fashion industry?
It is estimated that the fashion industry is responsible for anywhere between 2% and 8% of global CO2 emissions, predominantly due to fast fashion - the practice of creating cheap products from unsustainable materials, and often over-ordering leading to clothes being sent to landfill or burned. It is compounded by the "wear it once" culture that is particularly prevalent on social media. This needs to change.
Our mission is to lead the way in this change, through more sustainable business practices:
- Products made to order
- Sustainable, eco-friendly and vegan materials
- A loved brand that people feel pride wearing
By doing this, we don't over-order clothes that will never be worn; use only materials that can be recycled and reloved; and create amazing products that people will want to wear over and over again!
